Aussie Doodle Characteristics

Our Mini AussieDoodles are a smart and lovable cross between the Mini Australian Shepherd (also known as the Miniature American Shepherd) and the Poodle. Carefully and ethically bred, these hybrid puppies inherit the best qualities (through thoughtful breeding choices) from both breeds—making them affectionate, intelligent, and low shedding.

At Ruby River Mini AussieDoodles, we focus on the smaller-sized Mini AussieDoodles, perfect for apartment living and easy to care for. Their compact size makes them ideal for families looking for a manageable dog that can easily tag along on outings. Known for their loyalty, playfulness, and eagerness to please, these pups are a great match for homes with children.

Our hypoallergenic Mini AussieDoodles are especially popular with families who have allergies, thanks to their low shedding coats. These intelligent dogs thrive on positive reinforcement training and engaging activities that challenge their minds.

If you want a loving, hypoallergenic, low shedding family pet with a brilliant minds and wonderful personality, a Mini AussieDoodle from Ruby River is an excellent choice.

Hypoallergenic and less Shedding

The term “hypoallergenic” refers to animals or products that are less likely to trigger allergic reactions—not completely allergy-free. When it comes to dogs, including Poodles and Doodle breeds, “hypoallergenic” generally means they shed less dander, which is often the main cause of allergies. The prefix “hypo-” means “under” or “less than,” as seen in words like hypothermia (low body temperature), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), or hypoxia (insufficient oxygen). Similarly, hypoallergenic dogs produce fewer allergens compared to other breeds, but no dog is entirely allergen-free.

The term was first used in 1953 in the cosmetics industry to describe products less likely to cause allergic reactions, and has since been applied to dog breeds with low-shedding coats. Studies have shown that breeds that shed less, or not at all, typically cause fewer allergic responses. However, this does not guarantee a completely allergy-proof pet, since some people react to other factors like dog saliva or environmental allergens such as pollen or grass.

If you’re considering adding a low-shedding, hypoallergenic Mini AussieDoodle to your family, it’s important to spend time with the puppy first to see how your allergies respond. Our Mini AussieDoodles are bred to be loving companions with coats that are easier on allergy sufferers—but individual reactions can vary.

Aussie Doodles are an active breed

Mini AussieDoodles are energetic and intelligent dogs that thrive on regular physical exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and well-behaved. Without enough activity, their sharp minds can lead to boredom, which sometimes results in mischief. Incorporating enrichment toys, puzzle games, and interactive play into their daily routine helps keep these bright pups engaged and content.

These adaptable, hypoallergenic companions can adjust well to various living environments, as long as their exercise needs are met. Daily walks, play sessions, and opportunities to explore outdoors are essential. Many Mini AussieDoodles love swimming, hiking, and even agility training, showcasing their versatility and eagerness to learn.

With a moderate to high energy level, Mini AussieDoodles suit families or individuals with an active lifestyle who can provide consistent exercise and socialization. Their friendly nature also means they flourish with plenty of positive interaction, making them excellent pets for those ready to invest time in building a strong bond.

Aussie Doodle Training

Mini AussieDoodles are incredibly intelligent and eager to please, making them highly trainable with the right approach. Successful training relies on positive reinforcement, patience, consistency, and gentle firmness. Since both the Mini Australian Shepherd and Poodle—the parent breeds—are known for their smarts (often called “canine Einsteins”), this hybrid inherits impressive problem-solving skills and quick learning ability.

Starting basic obedience commands like “sit,” “come,” and “stay” early is crucial for setting your Mini AussieDoodle on a path to becoming a well-mannered companion. Early crate training is also essential to prevent destructive behaviors and support effective potty training. Additionally, crate familiarity helps reduce stress during vet visits and travel, making those experiences smoother for both dog and owner.

With consistent, reward-based training, your Mini AussieDoodle will thrive as a loving, obedient member of your family.
